You would need to notice that classical/boehm flute fingering is different from whistle. Even you will need to re-learn most of tunes you used to play in your low whistle.

Love your whistles. I have an older wood low D with offset fingering. I tried purchasing your new high D but it woujd cost over $120 canadian. Shipping and customs is just too much.

Hi Nick! I'm interested in starting to make my own whistles out of wood. This video was so inspiring! I do have two questions, if you don't mind me asking. (1) When you carve and cut the mouthpiece area and fit the parts together, did you put some sort of barrier on the inside to hold the block in place? (Does that make sense?) Or do you just insert it into the mouthpiece end and then test it to see if the block is inserted far enough? (2) What kind of glue did you use to hold the block, mouthpiece cap, etc. in place? Hope you can answer these, but if not, then I understand.

It might sound weird. But in my country there are not music stores at all. Instruments like this are not available. And the rest of Instruments like guitars and so on are very expensive. I really appreciate your video and that you are willing to share your abilities. Keep on going! One day I will stop by if I get near to your workshop!

I was checking it with a tuner. You can’t really see the tuner in the video, but I have found the best way to see if it is in tune is to play it like it will be played with songs and see how the tuning looks while playing it rather than just playing the notes individually as your breath control will try and fix minor tuning issues for individual notes, but not as much when playing a tune.
